Environment and Sustainability Plan
The Catering Company is committed to continually improve our business model for a sustainable & environmentally friendly work place. Together with employees and suppliers we are always looking to put our stamp on ways to reduce carbon, waste control, water and energy usage.
We have implemented a compost bin for vegetable, plant matter, and recycling. Nontoxic chemicals have also replaced commercial grade cleaning products used in the kitchen.
We purchase our raw foods exclusively from local suppliers and design seasonal menus to eliminate unnecessary wastage, as well as deliver only the freshest product to our clients. We have also introduced new water saving processes in the kitchen where preparing these products is concerned resulting in a 20% decline of our water and energy usage!
We are committed to eliminating non-recyclable packaging materials. We deliver our food in reusable melamine platters, or china. We also supply environmentally friendly paper cups, plates and napkins.
We have drafted a company policy which mandates that all client cancelled orders, unused product and food excess is to be donated to various departments within the City of Yarra to eliminate wastage. We are proud to have formed successful partnerships with INNERSPACE, as well as Flagstaff Crisis Centre.
Our staff is dedicated to creating a more sustainable and eco-friendly business model. We are also excited to announce that we will be catering for the Sustain Expo & Organic Expo at the Royal Exhibition Building right here in Carlton!
